Kylie and Jarek got married on the beach at Couples Swept Away in Negril, with a small group of family and close friends. No big production, no long guest list, just a simple ceremony by the water followed by dinner and drinks as the sun went down.

The Plan

From our first call, Kylie and Jarek were clear about what they wanted: small, relaxed, and not overly staged. They picked Couples Swept Away because of the quieter, adults-only section of beach, which meant we could shoot the ceremony without other guests wandering through the frame.

Getting Ready

Morning was low-key. Kylie's dress hung by the window with her shoes and bouquet nearby while she got ready with her mom and a couple of bridesmaids. Jarek had coffee with his groomsmen and ran through the day's timeline. Good light, not much movement, easy to work with.

The Ceremony

The arch was simple — white linen and palm fronds — set up right at the water's edge. About 30 guests sat in a half-circle in the sand. Kylie walked down with her dad. Vows were short and a little funny in places, which is usually a good sign — it means the couple is being themselves instead of performing for the crowd.

Golden Hour

After the ceremony, we took 20 minutes for portraits down the beach, away from the reception setup. Late afternoon light in Negril does a lot of the work for you. Mostly just walking, talking, normal interaction, nothing posed too hard.

The Reception

Dinner was set up beachfront with string lights for when it got dark. Toasts, a few dances, the usual reception flow. The best shots from this part of the night are almost always candid: the grandmother dancing with Jarek, the best man's toast, that kind of thing.

Why Negril

Negril works well for this kind of wedding because it's less built-up than some other parts of Jamaica, and the beach itself doesn't need much dressing up. Couples Swept Away in particular gave us privacy without needing a private island budget to get it.

Wrap-up

This was a good example of what an intimate destination wedding can look like: small group, simple setup, real moments. If you're planning something similar in Jamaica, I'd be glad to talk through what coverage would look like for your day.
